Learn From Experienced Aquarists
Our meetings regularly feature presentations and demonstrations on fishkeeping, breeding, aquatic plants, aquarium care, and other topics. Speakers include club members, experienced hobbyists, and special guests who share their knowledge and answer questions.
Share With Other Hobbyists
Members bring fish, plants, and other aquarium items to sell or trade, giving everyone a chance to see what other local hobbyists are keeping and raising.

Recent Presentations
August 2025 — Wild Livebearers
Presented by Dave Smith
Dave Smith, a longtime aquarist with more than 50 years in the hobby, shared his experience with wild livebearers and rarely seen goodeids. A member of the Louisville Tropical Fish Fanciers and American Livebearer Association, Dave discussed several species he keeps and breeds and made some of these unusual fish available through an auction.
February 2024 – Introduction to Dwarf Cichlids
Presented by Mike Hellweg
Mike Hellweg shared an introduction to dwarf cichlids and their care. He is a longtime aquarium writer whose work has appeared in many issues of Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine.
Raffles and More
Our meetings typically include a raffle with fish, plants, aquarium supplies, and other items donated by members and supporters. We also hold larger prize raffles and occasional auctions throughout the year. You never know what might be up for grabs!
